About Alberta Products
Agriculture has always been fundamental to the Alberta economy. By embracing the opportunities offered by a global marketplace, the province has built an international reputation as a reliable source of agricultural technology, expertise and food.
Alberta has a wealth of agricultural land. While more than 51 million acres are currently used for crop and livestock production, the immense size of this agricultural land base allows for the sector’s continued growth.
With this land base, Alberta produces an abundant supply of agricultural commodities. These commodities are competitively produced and available as raw materials for the province’s food processing industry. Along with 40 per cent of Canada's beef cattle, Alberta has plentiful supplies of grain, dairy products, pork, poultry, vegetables, sugar and cooking oils.
