Explore Local Webinar Series
This series of interactive on-line sessions gives producers the opportunity to learn and connect with on-the-ground practitioners and experts. To access previously recorded webinars, visit the Explore Local Resources page.

Pre-registration for these webinars is strongly advised as the WebEx webinar system requires you to answer several questions before joining the webinar. Space is limited to the first 100 participants who join the webinar on the broadcast date and time. You are strongly encouraged to watch the webinar with other participants where possible.

Registration: Change time zone to say Denver; unfortunately there isn’t a choice for Alberta. It should default to Denver for future registrations.

With more than 130 Alberta approved farmers’ markets and over $700 million in sales in 2012, farmers’ markets are big business in Alberta. Getting Into Retail - POSTPONED

This workshop has been postponed until the Fall. If interested in this event, please contact Delores Serafin at 780-427-4611.

This one-day workshop will examine the things you should know if you are considering selling your food products into retail. We will talk about the retail opportunity, identifying your target customer and how you can determine if there is demand for your product beyond your current market channels, what you need before you start marketing, regulations, food safety and much more.

This workshop is the second educational opportunity being offered this year on this market channel opportunity. The first is a webinar - Retail Connection for Farm Direct - being offered on October 13, 2015 (see the description under Webinars).

Agri-Tourism and Farm Direct Marketing Workshop
Mark and Angela Saunders lead the award-winning Saunders Farm near Ottawa, Ontario. Originally a strawberry U-pick operation, the farm has grown and redefined what a family farm can be. They have had over one million guests, and now welcome nearly 60,000 people each year to their Haunting Season. Road to Retail

This half-day workshop is for Alberta vegetable and fruit growers who are interested in the retail, grocery or food service market channels and have questions about the regulations and standards. Participants will consider the challenges, potential benefits and actions they will have to take to make the move into retail.

Alberta Farm Fresh School
Offered in partnership with Explore Local, the Alberta Farm Fresh Producers Association and Organic Alberta, this two-day conference is for producers to learn, network and build capacity in direct market fruit, vegetables, and livestock production and marketing. Check out the agenda.

Greenhouse Energy and Material Efficiency
