Business Development Services

Helping to facilitate the development and commercialization of high-value, innovative ingredients, products and platform technologies from renewable agriculture feedstocks, biomass and processing waste/sidestreams.

A thriving bioeconomy will add value to Alberta-grown biomass and enhance economic growth in many parts of the province.

Of course, to be sustainable in the long run, bio-industrial innovation must ultimately work in business terms. From emerging opportunities to start-ups and advanced businesses, Alberta bio-industrial companies may need some guidance and support with their business development and commercialization efforts along the way.

Let us help connect the pieces. The Bio-Industrial Opportunities Section Business Development Services team has the expertise, experience and connections to help your bio-based ingredients, products, services, or technology business achieve scale-up and commercialization.

Our services include:
  • Business planning. Count on us to provide informed, constructive feedback on your plans and practical guidance on how to put it into action. This includes areas such as production, feasibility, market research, specialized information, assistance with site location selection in Alberta including connection to regional economic development network, access to funding and human resources.
  • Strategic counsel. From supply chain logistics to regulatory issues to market access and more, such as matching companies with Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) expertise, we can help you identify and address obstacles and opportunities for your commercial success.
  • Collaboration and networking. We maintain close working relationships with people and organizations spanning all aspects of the emerging Alberta bioeconomy including municipalities, research organizations, growers, regulators and private sector.
