The Agriculture Workforce Program’s Strategic Plan for the agriculture industry identifies priority action areas to address specific workforce issues in primary production and agri-food processing sectors. Agriculture and Forestry will collaborate and partner with industry, industry associations and other stakeholder groups to implement the Workforce Development Program. Agriculture and Forestry staff liaises cross-ministry and with federal partners on related programs.

Workforce: News and upcoming events

Alberta Agriculture and Forestry, in partnership with Alberta Works will be hosting job fairs in Edmonton and Lethbridge. The events will offer employers an opportunity to meet with prospective job seekers to address their labour needs.

Producers and Agri-Processing Companies - Attract and Keep your People!
You are an expert in your operation – so how are you doing in attracting and retaining your people? Take advantage of a no charge service offered by Alberta Agriculture and Forestry to review the people practices in your business. You will spend one day with an expert advisor to receive immediate coaching and ideas to build on your current people programs. You will also receive a confidential follow-up report outlining recommendations for your farming or processing business.
