Calling all Rural Organizations!!
The health and safety of your rural organization is a high priority and up until now, farm-specific safety training options have been few. Recognizing this, the Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development (ARD) Farm Safety Program has been working with safety industry partners over the past several years to develop safety training for farmers and farm workers. The training is called SafeThink Agriculture. To promote this new training, ARD is offering several types of safety presentations ranging from one hour up to full-day workshops to farm organizations throughout rural Alberta.
SafeThink Agriculture was developed in consultation with farmers. The course focuses on the practice of learning ‘critical thinking skills’ that take a person through a logical set of questions to ensure they can identify and control the hazards of any workplace. These skills can be used in any situation as a worker moves from one task to the next through the day.
ARD is currently offering Introduction to SafeThink Agriculture presentations to farm organizations. This service will be provided free of charge until March 9 2012 thanks to the Growing Forward grant program. The instructor, a farmer himself, can provide information on SafeThink Agriculture, along with specific safety topics as requested by your organization.
You can take advantage of this opportunity to bring safety education to your membership. Book a presentation and enable your staff and members to learn about safety topics specific to their operation. Let them discover this excellent training opportunity for themselves, their families and farm workers.
