| Return to Food Safety Legislation in Alberta
The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) was signed into law on January 4, 2011. Under FSMA, Alberta Agri-businesses (i.e. producers and processors) exporting to the United States are considered foreign suppliers and will be expected to meet stringent new food safety standards. We have created a document called Food Safety Modernization Act - What Foreign Suppliers Need to Know, a brief overview of the most important rules that will apply to foreign suppliers. |
